You’ll work with the material plastic using specialized plastic injection molding machines, monitor the manufacturing processes, equip the machines with tools, inspect the produced parts according to quality standards, and operate and program high-tech equipment.

Wondering what that actually means?
A Tool Mechanic manufactures complex, specialized tools for the industrial production of plastic parts using computer-controlled CNC machines. Based on technical drawings, they create precision components and assemble them into fully functional tools. These parts must meet extremely tight tolerances—from tenths to hundredths of a millimeter, and sometimes even thousandths (micrometers).
These highly complex tools are then used by Process Mechanics for Plastics and Rubber Technology to produce plastic components.
In the end, these two professions come together to create products like bicycle helmets, gaming chairs, refrigerators, toolboxes, or practically any plastic item you can imagine.
